Glock 43x Mos Sights - If you need optics for your Glock 43X, I'm here to help. The Modular Optics System, or MOS, version of the G43X has a factory-cut slide that only accepts micro-footprint-sized optics using an RMSc-type base. Not every red dot sight (RDS) will be suitable.
Initially popularized by the Smith & Wesson Shield series, the RMSc footprint is now used for a range of rifles including the SIG SAUER P365 series and Springfield Armory's Hellcat optic. Sights are more compact than normal pistol red dots and are essential for slim guns like the G43X.

I have thoroughly researched the use of reflexes on pistols and tested more than a few options on the market. To help you decide which red dot might work best for your needs, I present my Glock 43X optics list.

These optics are also suitable for the Glock 48 MOS pistol. While I try to keep the list current, I know I might miss a new product release. So, leave information about anything not on the list in the comments section below.
Before I get into the details of each optic, here is a table comparing the features and prices of the currently available options.
MSRP prices for Shield Sights models are estimated based on currency conversion and UK VAT included.
Rayton Optics offers a solidly built mini red dot for your Slimline Glock pistol. Called the X3 TACTIX MPRD, the sight is made with a 6061-T6 aluminum body and multi-coated lenses. In terms of durability, only the Swampfox Sentinel (scroll below) beats it.

The X3 TACTIX MPRD is a fully manual optic with 10 red dot brightness levels. Levels one and two are compatible with night vision while the remaining brightness levels are compatible with the Mk1 eyepiece in a range of lighting conditions. The automatic shutdown function starts after 12 hours.
Ryton claims 99.5% light transmission with its high-density glass and multi-coatings. The lens coatings are said to reduce reflections, improve clarity in low light and resist scratching.
The company has a simple guarantee: if it ever fails send it back and Reton Optics will send you a new one. You don't need to register the product, you don't need any documents and you don't even need to be a real customer. The company aims to process all returns within 48 hours. It would be hard to beat that kind of service.
The suggested retail price on the optic is $299.99. The watch is relatively new, so you have to buy it directly from Raytheon. As it goes to market, I'm sure we'll see discounts on this look through regular retailers.

Shield Sights is the longest running manufacturer of micro red dots for pistols like the Glock 43X. Currently, the company offers two basic modules: RMSc and SMSc.
Made in England, the RMSc uses an aluminum body with a polymer lens to display the red target mark. The Shield sites do not list the type of aluminum it uses for the body.
Shield sights use an anti-reflective coating on the lens to reduce glare when aiming your G43X. Polymer lenses are used in some refractive areas and keep production costs low. However, some people report that the lenses are more susceptible to scratching.
You can purchase this sight with a 4 MOA or 8 MOA dot. For me, I prefer 4 MOA, but 8 MOA really gets you going. For close-up defensive shooting, a large dot isn't a bad choice, so pick whatever you think will work best for you.

The shield does not recognize what level of visual brightness it can operate at. Rather, the point is automatically adjusted based on the lighting conditions.
Shield offers a 7-year electronics warranty at RMSc and a lifetime warranty on the rest of the components.
As Shield is an English company, buying directly from the company requires a currency conversion from US dollars to British pounds. In addition, the purchase will include VAT or value added tax. At the time of this writing, the recommended retail price of the watch is £300 before VAT. After currency conversion and VAT are added, the price is about $472.98 plus shipping.
Another Shield product, this unit has the same look but has some new features. The most obvious change is that the SMSc uses a polymer body instead of aluminum.

Shield also reworked the lens. Now you can get polymer lenses with a special quartz hard coating for increased durability and scratch resistance. You can completely replace the polymer lens with a glass lens.
As with RMSc, SMSc is a fixed sight that automatically adjusts brightness. When mounted on your Glock pistol, a sensor measures the ambient light and changes the relative brightness of the red dot.
The SMSc can be purchased with a 4 MOA or 8 MOA aiming point. It enjoys the same 7-year/unlimited warranty that the RMSc has.
With a quartz-coated polymer lens, the MSRP with VAT for the SMSc is $346.85. The glass lens upgrade will cost an additional $126.13 for a total of $472.98. Moreover, it is the same price as RMSc.

Alternatively, you can try buying from a US dealer. Right now, though, the only retailer that seems to carry them is the Springfield Armory. The company's asking price is $299, but they are sold out before the expected restock date.
If you are not already aware, SIG SAUER is now a visionary manufacturer. The company makes everything from range finders to high-powered scopes. One of its newest additions is the Romeo Zero RDS, which fits the Glock 43X and other slim pistols.
Romeo Zero is made with a polymer body and lens. It lends itself to being light - about 0.4 ounces, according to the company's specifications.
For durability, I prefer a 6061 or 7075 aluminum body. However, polymer has proven to be a durable material for gun parts. Likewise, I prefer glass lenses. Polymer, however, is a stable material for optics, so you should be fine with that look unless you abuse it.

The SIG uses a motion-activated system to change the red dot. The system seems to work well, and I have no problem relying on it.
The brightness of the dot is controlled manually. With the Romeo Zero, you get 8 manually adjustable brightness levels. There are two models available: one with a 3 MOA dot and a second with a larger 6 MOA dot.
One of the highlights of this look is its price tag: $219. Buying it online brings the total cost down to $200 with free shipping. This is the best price on this list by a pretty wide margin.
Reader Mike W. emailed me about Romeo Zero compatibility with the G43X MOS. He said the mounting screws included with the sight are too long for a Glock pistol. This mirrors the problem I ran into when trying to mount the Romeo Zero to the Springfield Armory Hellcat.

I'm trying to track down a replacement screw. It has been suggested to me that this M4-0.70x8mm flat head screw is a good alternative, but I haven't confirmed that yet.
If you are running Romeo Zero on your Glock 43X MOS, can you let us know what mods or replacement patches to use?
Sentinel is tough and built to take a beating. Swampfox machines the body from 7075-T6 aluminum – the same hard metal used in forged AR rifles.
For the lens, SwampFocus uses optical glass that is multi-coated to resist fogging, water, mud and scratches.

In addition, the Sentinel is the only watch on this list with an IP rating: a standard rating system for measuring water and dust intrusion in electronics and other devices.
Sentinel is rated at IPX7. This means it is submersible up to 1 meter for up to 30 minutes. No other theory offers anything close to this.
Swampfox offers RDS in two models: one is fully manual with 10 brightness levels while the other is a continuous version with infinitely adjustable, automatic brightness levels. I have the fully automatic version, and it works as advertised.
The photo sensor samples the ambient light and adjusts the 3 MOA red dot almost instantly. In actual use, I found it to work perfectly.

Swampfox offers a 50k cycle warranty on the Sentinel. In other words, if you have a problem with it in the first 50,000 rounds of live fire, they will fix it. If you shoot 1,000 rounds/year, you will have the company's support for the next 50 years. I bet, though, that the company would be willing to take action for any defect in its production regardless of the round number.
Due to the incredible popularity of the Sentinel, viewings sell out quickly. However, they are available here at a discount.
